In the biggest development of this week across digital media – and of course directly impacting the music industry– Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has launched their rival app to Twitter, Threads. Built using your existing Instagram profile and with future integration planned with other apps including Mastodon, its a very similar product to Twitter but already seems a little less frenetic and community-orientated. The app launched on Thursday at 12AM and quickly set a new record for installs. Within 24 hours Twitter published a letter to Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg threatening legal action and theft of trade secrets (drama). Many musicians were immediately active on Threads and we bet a lot of you are also using it already. Let us know how you’re getting on by hitting reply to this!
