Music streaming services are gearing up to celebrate Christmas with the battle of exclusive music. Spotify confirmed its Christmas covers plans this week, joining Apple Music and Amazon Music. Spotify is launching a "Spotify Singles: Holiday Collection" with artists including Kurt Vile, Tom Grennan, Kalush Orchestra and Kenia OS.

Apple Music, meanwhile, has snared Ellie Goulding, Ozuna and Alexis Ffrench for its "Carols Covered 2022" playlist, each with an accompanying classical version. Amazon Music, meanwhile, could take the win for the biggest Xmas names having nabbed Lizzo, Kane Brown, Sam Ryder and Stormy for its Christmas curation.

It's not necessarily a case of these DSPs dealing under-the-table commissions, but more who has the best original content – especially when it comes to asking Siri or Alexa "Play Christmas music." Via Spotify & others
