Trudy Kerr

Born in Australia, Trudy moved to the UK in the 90’s to pursue a career in Jazz. She got her big break when Ronnie Scott heard her sing and immediately booked her for a week long date at his club. She has performed at many major venues and festivals in the UK, most notably Glastonbury, and recently sang at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Birthday celebration.
Trudy has recorded 13 albums as a leader, the most recent being ‘Take 5 - The Music of Paul Desmond’. The album celebrates the music of alto saxophonist Paul Desmond and Trudy has added lyrics to his compositions and written vocalese to his solos. The album is due for release in late 2018.
Her other releases are ‘The House’, ’Contemplation’, ‘The Rhythm of Life’, ‘Reunion’, ‘Like Minds’, ‘Déjà Vu’, ‘Jazz for Juniors’, ‘Cloudburst’, ‘My Old Flame’, ‘Day Dream’, ‘Trudy’ and ‘Sweet Surprise’. Trudy has collaborated both live and in the studio with world class musicians including Mulgrew Miller, Jan Lundgren, Georgie Fame, Bob Dorough, Jukka Perko, Michael Garrick, Acker Bilk and Jamie Cullum.
Trudy has a Post Graduate in Jazz Studies from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has held teaching posts at the Guildhall, Chichester University and Colchester Institute. As well as LCCM Trudy currently holds a teaching post at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has completed Level 5 courses in working with students with Dylsexia. Trudy recently presented for the second time at the International Jazz Voice Conference in Finland and has recently returned from South Africa where she was an adjudicator on the UNISA International Jazz Voice Competition. She is a co-founder of www.jazzsingingschool.com and runs regular jazz voice camps at LCCM she also teaches privately.
