The Ivors Academy is the UK’s professional association for songwriters and composers – celebrating their achievements, campaigning for their rights and supporting creatives throughout their careers.

They're partners of ours too, so we're thrilled that Tom, member of Mercury Prize-winning band Gomez (and a previous Box Talk guest) has been appointed Chair of their board. Tom has gained significant profile leading the #BrokenRecord campaign which has called for reform of the music industry and a rebalance of power towards artists. It spurred the DCMS Select Committee inquiry into Music Streaming, which heard evidence from music creators as well as the major labels.

The inquiry's scathing report has resulted in the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) opening a probe into the music streaming sector. Without doubt Tom Gray has had a game-changing impact on the music industry as we know it over the past couple years and we wish him every success in his new role. Via Ivors Academy
