Our courses

Music Performance (2 weeks, starts 1 August)

Our Performance course will get you working in a band as well as excelling in your chosen instrument, recording your band performance with the Music Production students and then performing live at the Music Box venue on the final night, in front of all your friends and family! You'll take part in group instrumental lessons with our expert tutors where you'll learn specific techniques and skills, as well as the songs for the band workshops. Guided by our performance music tutors, you and your band will rehearse and learn your set of songs together across the two weeks, applying your learning from the instrumental classes. In the second week, you'll get the experience of recording in a professional studio environment as a group, before preparing for your final live gig on the final Friday!

Music Production (3 weeks, starts 25 July)

Are you a budding music producer, studio engineer or whiz programmer looking to take your production skills to the next level? If so our Music Production course is for you. Spread over three weeks, you'll cover a wide range of topics to help you become an all-rounder ready for future study or work experience. Working from our suite of top-level studios, you'll learn the ins and outs of a DAW, as well as programming, synthesis, sampling and remixing. Developing your studio recording skills, you'll be working with analogue gear and real instruments, and in the second week you'll record the Music Performance students in the studio, engineering and producing a professional-level recording together.

Harmony and Theory (2 weeks, starts 1 August)

Our practical Harmony and Theory short course covers the basic elements of Music Theory as well as Ear Training and core Piano skills, giving you solid foundations on which to build your professional music practice. You'll be understanding the language and terminology of music theory, identifying notes on treble and bass clefs, using note values and time signatures correctly and learning about triads – what are the different types and how do you construct them. Within Ear Training, you'll be hearing and identifying triads and intervals as well as simple rhythmic and melodic transcription. You'll learn your way around the Piano – basic navigation of the keyboard, note names and where to find them, an introduction to simple major scales, triads and chords and also the key elements of two-handed playing (harmony and melody). The topics you'll be covering are the equivalent of ABRSM and Trinity Music Theory Grades 1-3. If you hold a Conditional offer to study at LCCM on the BMus Performance and Production degree (conditional on passing the Harmony and Theory test), on completion of the short course you will be automatically accepted onto L4 of the degree.*

Drum Day (10 August)

Are you the next Chad Smith, Taylor Hawkins or Derrick McKenzie? Learn from some of the UK's best tutors at an all-day workshop. In the morning, rotate between different rooms where you'll learn different styles, before a masterclass from an incredible Session Drummer in the afternoon (guest TBC).
