It’s already breaking records and it’s not even out yet(!) Taylor, please. The film, which captures her record-breaking stadium tour, is out on Friday 13th – to coincide with Swifty’s lucky number – and will screen in 8,500 cinemas across 100 countries. Across the pond, the film will play at least four times per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at every AMC Cinema location in the United States. The cinema chain promises it will “continue to take steps to reach agreements with additional cinema operators throughout the world to play this spectacular Taylor Swift tour-de-force.” Whoosh.

Anything Bey does becomes a cultural event, but the Renaissance tour has become a cultural movement. The New York Times’ analysis of the figures estimate that the tour will have made $4.5 billion for the U.S. economy (which is about as much as the 2008 Olympics did for Beijing/China). The tour has estimated to net out at $479 million – a simply astonishing figure to be honest. Guest LCCM lecturer and our good friend Dr Mathew Knowles quipped: “The fact it is affecting the economy in a positive way while spreading its message of love and celebration brings me a great deal of joy.” Too right – that’s one proud Dad!
