Harry Webb Memorial Prize

LCCM is proud to launch the first annual Harry Webb Memorial Prize, in honour of Harry Webb, a gifted and deeply missed LCCM postgraduate student. This annual prize recognises outstanding original songwriting and celebrates Harry’s creativity and passion by giving another student the opportunity to bring their musical vision to life.

The Harry Webb Memorial Prize is a fitting tribute to Harry’s generous spirit and creative artistry, and we’re proud to be able to offer our students such a fantastic opportunity with the generous support of Harry’s mum and dad, Pat and Mike. The prize offers one student two weekend days of studio time at LCCM with a staff engineer to record and develop a demo, plus a £500 gift to help shape and fund a creative project for that music. Open to all students (UG and PG), we hope the annual Harry Webb Memorial Prize helps platform other students who share the joy of creativity that Harry felt so keenly, and will benefit them as they continue taking steps towards their music career. The winner will be announced on October 23rd, 2025.

Austin Milne – Programme Leader, PG

“The universe can be incredibly cruel and unforgiving sometimes. Harry’s life, however, can remind us all just how much joy, dynamism and vitality is possible too. Harry was a rare, beautiful soul full of imagination, love and compassion; there really was no one else quite like him. On any day you could find him anywhere in the building with just about anyone from across the college, perfectly at ease collaborating in any way he could. His quiet charisma was infectious and has been a catalyst for so much and for so many. His talents were a gift to us all. Harry’s passing will take time to reconcile. Our memories of him, his music, and his impact on all of us will, however, reverberate for much longer as we come together to commemorate and celebrate this indelible spirit. We love you, Harry. Thank you for everything.”
