How to Get Started in Music: LCCM Careers Day 2025

So, with our next Careers Day taking place on Friday 21st November, we thought it was about time we got into what you can expect from one of the most exciting days on our calendar.

Who’s There

Our Careers Day brings together a broad lineup of companies and professionals from across the music world. This time, you’ll meet teams from education and representation (Rocksteady, MN2S, ISM), music rights and publishing (Musicians’ Union & We Are Event People), and innovative creative collectives (DAACI & WeAre8).

They’ll be here to share inside industry knowledge and give you a real sense of the different pathways available to you now and in the future. It’s a real chance to connect with people working in the industry, swap details and maybe even end up working alongside them one day.

What’s On

The day will kick off with our Careers Panel in partnership with UK Music, featuring Danny West (producer for Universal Music), Keith Ayling (Professor of Songwriting and performer), Steph Van Sprosen (music manager and artist development consultant), and Pascale Khalaf (music publishing specialist). Together they’ll cover everything from artist management to education, A&R and creative strategy – offering honest stories about how they got started and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

After the panel, we’ve got a packed schedule for you to enjoy, designed to help you finetune your skills and grow your network. You can expect:

  • Live Music Feedback Workshop with Universal Music’s Danny West: get individual, actionable feedback on your tracks.
  • Industry Talks with Music Professionals: hear real stories and advice on how to break into the industry.
  • Panels on the Business, Creative and Tech Sides of Music: explore different career paths across the sector.
  • Music Business CV Workshop with Silvia Gargiulo (BIY Recruitment): learn how to best present your experience and stand out to employers.
  • Onsite Photographer: update your professional headshots for future applications and profiles.

Then, as the day winds down, we’ll open up our onsite bar for an Industry Mixer & Networking session, featuring a drinks reception with a number of music companies and recruiters. Here, you’ll be able to connect with people from labels, publishers, creative agencies and beyond to chat more about your next move in music.
