Amer grew up in West London. After experimenting with a variety of jobs after leaving college he eventually settled into the creative artwork and graphic design world, producing artwork mainly for the home entertainment industry. From there, Amer set about his remarkable development as a writer. He has an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck and is a winner the recipient of an Eric Ambler Award from the Society of Authors Foundation. ‘Brothers in Blood’, a crime thriller set in west London’s Asian community, is Anwar’s first novel and was the winner of the prestigious Crime Writers’ Association Debut Dagger Award. During the talk Anwar will be discussing ‘Brothers of Blood’, providing insights into his writing process and the technicalities of writing that big first novel. The talk will last an hour from 1pm to 2pm and is completely free and optional to attend for all LCCM students.
