Bree Runway, Holly Humberstone and Lola Young have made the shortlist for the coveted prize, which is supported by BBC Radio 1.
Both Bree and Holly previously made last year's BBC Sound Of... longlist. Previously known as the BRITs Critics Choice Award, in its previous guise winners have included acts as Sam Smith, Jessie J and Adele.
In its new iteration as the BRITs Rising Star, Griff won last year, and Celeste in 2020.
